NumberKey: Unable to connect and/or properly function (For Windows)

When NumberKey does not function properly under Wi-Fi network environment, please verify the list below.

Step 1. Check System requirements

First, please verify that all of the system requirements (below) are met to ensure that the NumberKey functions properly.
Your devices must consist of ALL of the following.

- iPhone/ iPod touch version 2.2.1 or later is in use.
- Numberkey2.0 or later is installed on your iPhone/ iPod touch.
- Your Windows OS uses either XP or Vista.
- Your Windows is able to connect to a Wi-Fi base station.
- You have installed “NumberKey Connect for Windows” on your Windows computer.
- You have installed “Bonjour for Windows” on your Windows computer.

Step 2. Check Bonjour version

Please verify that the latest version of Bonjour software is installed.
You can download the latest version of Bonjour, by visiting this page.

*The newest version of Bonjour is Ver.1.0.6, which was updated in December of 2008.
*Windows Vista/ XP 64Bit is only compatible with the newest version of Bonjour (Ver. 1.0.6).

Step 3: Connect by testing with ad hoc

After verifying the above list and yet problems still persist when using the NumberKey, the source of the problem may lie in its wireless network device or the wireless network security system. To better understand the source of the problem, it is recommended that you try to connect the application using ad hoc connection.

For instructions on how to connect using ad hoc connection, please visit the link below.

How to connect when using ad hoc (for Windows)

Step 4-1: Functions properly with ad hoc connection

If, after connecting through ad hoc connection the NumberKey operates normally, the source of the problem may have been its wireless network device or the wireless network security system.

Since NumberKey is designed for use with a standard home wireless network device and normal wireless network security system, the use of the application during corporate and school areas as well as homes with a Firewall wireless network system (or a high security system) may have been the cause for poor connections and/or other related problems. Please verify that your wireless network device and/or wireless network’s security preference is suitable to its environment.

Furthermore, we recommend that you contact your network provider for further information and instructions regarding your network settings.

NOTE: Please be informed that with numerous types of wireless networks available, BALMUDA design, at times, may not be able to fully correspond to all inquiries regarding wireless network connection(s) and/or its security settings.

Step 4-2: Does not function properly even with ad hoc connection

If after ad hoc network is properly set up on your computer and its connection is established on your iPhone/iPod touch, and yet the NumberKey still does not function properly, the following may be some possible causes:

-The Bonjour version is outdated. Please Check Step 2’s “Check Bonjour Version” once more. Furthermore, although you may have downloaded the latest version, there may be a chance that all its settings were lost. To ensure that the latest version of Bonjour runs smoothly on your computer, we recommend that you delete the current Bonjour used and reinstall the latest version once more.

- When a mouse, keyboard, or other input device-related drivers is installed, depending on the device’s compatibility, the NumberKey Connect may not function properly. Please verify whether input device-related drivers exist in your computer.
