How to connect when using ad hoc (for Windows)
When you are outside and without access to a Wi-Fi base station, you can create a network on your Windows and iPhone/iPod touch when using the NumberKey.
(1) System Requirements
First, please verify the system requirements (below) to ensure that the NumberKey functions properly.
Your devices must consist of ALL of the following.
- iPhone/ iPod touch version 2.2.1 or later is in use.
- Numberkey2.0 or later is installed on your iPhone/ iPod touch.
- Your Windows OS uses either XP or Vista.
- Your Windows has the feature to connect to a Wi-Fi base station.
- You have installed “NumberKey Connect for Windows” on your Windows computer.
- You have installed “Bonjour for Windows” on your Windows computer.
You must have the latest “Bonjour for Windows”.
Please verify that the latest version of Bonjour software is installed using the site below:

(2) Establish connection using ad hoc on Windows
- For Windows Vista
Please use this site here as a reference to establish ad hoc connection.
- For Windows XP
Please use this site here as a reference to establish ad hoc connection.
(3) Connect iPhone/ iPod touch to Windows computer using the established ad hoc network
Select the “Settings” icon on your iPhone / iPod touch. From the “Wi-Fi” menu, select the connection you had just previously created (in step 2).
If required, please enter the password for the network you had previously created.
If the created ad hoc network does not appear on your screen, please select “Other…” and enter the network information accordingly.
Press “Join” on the far right-hand corner of the iPhone’s touch screen keyboard and see that the ad hoc network you selected (on the Wi-Fi Networks page) has a check mark next to it.
(4) Launch application
In either order,
1. Launch “NumberKey” on your iPhone/iPod touch.
2. Launch “NumberKey Connect” on your Windows computer.
(5) Using NumberKey Connect
On your Windows computer, under NumberKey Connect’s “Devices”, select the iPhone/iPod touch with the same established Wi-Fi network and click “Connect”.
(6) After connection has been established
After connection has been established, your iPhone/ iPod touch can be used as a numeric keypad on your Windows computer.
